Microsoft and Lionhead's flawed king-making adventure is set to show up on Valve's digital distribution platform as well as Games for Windows.
It's been a while coming, but the PC version of Fable III is almost here. It'll be launching in three separate locations simultaneously: retail, Games for Windows Marketplace and Valve's Steam store.
Those who pre-order through Games for Windows will receive a free copy of the complete Fable: The Lost Chapters game, while Steam users will receive the Rebel's Weapon and Tattoo DLC pack, which includes four weapons and five tattoo sets for character customization. The retail version doesn't have any pre-order bonuses.
While the Games for Windows pre-order bonus is significantly better -- a complete game as opposed to some ultimately useless character customization DLC -- could Microsoft making Fable III available via Steam be evidence that it's conceding defeat to Valve in the battle to dominate digital distribution?
You can pre-order Fable III for PC from later today, and it'll be available from May 17 in the US, May 20 in Europe. The PC version includes a new Hardcore mode and 3D functionality, and all the currently-available Xbox DLC will be available for the new edition.
