SOE Believes No Customer Information Compromised, News from GamePro

It appears that Sony Online Entertainment's servers were also affected by the recent system intrusion, but customer information remains safe at this time.

In astatement on the PS3 DC Universe Online forums, Linda"Brasse"Carlson, director of global community relations for Sony Online Entertainment, stated that"to the best of our knowledge, no customer personal information {has} got out to any unauthorized person or persons."Carlson also stated that the company's investigation of an intrusion into SOE's services was ongoing and that it would notify customers if there was any change in its findings.

The announcement confused the community somewhat, many of whom now believe that there are conflicting messages coming from different parts of Sony --yesterday's announcement from Patrick Seyboldfirmly in their minds. Representatives from SOE reminded people that SOE systems and databases are separate from PSN's -- althoughDC Universe Onlinemakes use of a user's PSN wallet to fund the game's subscription fee. Sony Online Entertainment apparently suffered some"service interruption"at the same time as the PSN/Qriocity hack, but according to thePlayStation Support site, its services are currently available -- so long as you're not trying to access them from a PS3, of course.

SOE representatives quickly jumped on any legal discussions in the forums, deleting the posts in question with a blunt"we cannot allow legal discussions in the forums."There was no public explanation for this, just an invitation to privately message moderators to discuss.

In asubsequent announcement, Carlson apologized for the inconvenience, noting that"SOE is committed to delivering stable and entertaining games for players of all ages."She also announced compensation plans for those affected, including"special events this weekend across our game portfolio, including a Double Station Cash day on Saturday, April 30th."Carlson also claims that the team is"working on a 'make good' plan for players of the PS3 versions of DC Universe Online and Free Realms. Details will be available soon on the individual game websites and forums."
