A few big ticket items hit the news feed today, but a third game in a great series took home the top story prize. 'Grats, Ubisoft.
Just ahead of its third quarter sales reporting period, French publisher Ubisoft outed a third game in the Call of Juarez shooter series called The Cartel. Details are scarce for the moment, but we know the game is still a first person shooter and that it's set in modern-day Los Angeles, California and Juarez, Mexico. The game is due for worldwide release on PC and"next gen systems"this summer.
"Call of Juarez The Cartel is an action-packed shooter game with a strong story, interesting characters and a wide variety of gameplay options,"Ubisoft Director of Marketing Adam Novickas said in a statement included with the press release."The game will bring the best elements of the Wild West into modern times with a very gritty and relevant plot."
The game'sofficial siteandFacebook pagedon't give us much to go on beyond what the press release already covered. The images, however, give us a tantalizing look at what could be a playable female character and a dude that looks an awful lot likeCall of Juarez: Bound in Blood's Ray. First details are expected in the March issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, which hits newsstands in North America on February 9, 2011.
